3 Nephi 11:14
“Arise and come forth unto me, that ye may thrust your hands into my side, and also that ye may feel the prints of the nails in my hands and in my feet, that ye may know that I am the God of Israel, and the God of the whole earth, and have been slain for the sins of the world”
O.K. I hesitantly pick on this verse. It actually preaches gospel. Jesus Christ dying for the sins of the world, the resurrection here in that he is appearing before them and bidding them to touch him as he bade Thomas, who also responded by bowing his knee and exclaiming “My Lord and My God.”
But this is just it, here in their own works Jesus confesses to be that which Mormons deny him to be, God. And I mean this just ask the missionaries knocking on your door if Jesus is God. Not a one of them can say that. They might go so far to say he is a God. But then that gets you into trouble with the First commandment, and Deut. 6:4 doesn’t it. But if he isn’t God, his dying for the sins of the world does nothing.
When they get around to tell you he isn't God, show them this verse ask them who is lying? Them or Jesus. Puts them in a real conundrum.

People who actually read the Book of Mormon find that it is not a very "Mormon" book. And just because someone believes in the Book of Mormon does NOT mean they belong to or agree with or believe in the doctrines of the Mormon church in Utah.
There are other factions of Latter Day Saints who didn't follow Brigham Young out to Utah, most notably Joseph Smith III's movement.
I would be remiss in not reminding you of the rule that the Bible gives in 1 John 4:2. http://bible.cc/1_john/4-2.htm
Benjamin,
I'm really not sure what you are trying to say here.
But one thing is sure, the Mormons say Jesus, but the Jesus they mean may as well be the guy who pours my drink at the Long beach airport.
I am very well aware of 1 John 4:2. And it doesn't bode well for Mormons. Now I don't know what the RLDS teach, but I'm guessing it is a difference in kind not species.
I don't understand what you're saying either. I just did a Google search for the phrase "a difference in kind not species" and your comment was the only result for that exact phrase. Apparently, you have just coined a new expression so congratulations. Now what does it mean? :)
I would draw a distinction between "Mormonism" (the teachings of the Mormon church) and the Book of Mormon, for they contradict one another. But if you apply the rule of 1 John 4:2 to the Book of Mormon and the Mormon church separately, the Book of Mormon passes the test while the Mormon church fails.
