Armageddon

Rev. 16:12-16 (ESV)
The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, to prepare the way for the kings from the east. [13] And I saw, coming out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits like frogs. [14] For they are demonic spirits, performing signs, who go abroad to the kings of the whole world, to assemble them for battle on the great day of God the Almighty. [15] ("Behold, I am coming like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake, keeping his garments on, that he may not go about naked and be seen exposed!") [16] And they assembled them at the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon.

The sixth angel pours out his bowl and the result is war, Armageddon. The name has come to mean ultimate doom. In truth the plains of meggido have been forever a choice battle field to gain control of Palestine or Israel, whatever you would like to call it. The sixth bowl dries up the river to prepare them all for fighting, to bring the kings of the east west to fight on the great plains so perfect for chariots. Battle ensues. War is always a reminder of God’s judgment on this world. Every war, every battle should be pause to think of the evil that has been unleased in this world.
I’m not a pacifist, far from it. War needs to be fought at times. Sometimes the reasons are better than others. The office of soldier is an honorable one. But that war is necessary, that reveals the evil of this world.
