Peculiar, Again Christ hasn’t come and done anything yet by the time this was supposedly written. But I decided to take this advice. The other day I spit made mud and put it in a blind man’s eye. He got a bit irate. I felt I was a bit low on wine so I filled a bunch of jars with water and tried to change them into wine, to the disappointment of myself and my friends. Too bad the liquor store doesn’t stay open past seven here. It looked like a long way to walk around a lake, and too far to swim, so I thought I would try to walk across it. Can’t say that worked out to well, and my wife was not so happy with the wet clothes I came home in. Perhaps next week I’ll ride a donkey into Jerusalem. Start whipping people at the wailing wall, and speaking in parables. Anyone want to come along?

Wasn't this Nephi guy supposedly writing before the birth of Christ? So is this supposed to be prophetic, or what? Do they just completely "check" their sense of reality and logic at the door when reading this drivel?
Do the Momos have "theologians" at their schools in the same sense that Lutherans do? I mean, do they produce scholarly works on this stuff? Do they teach it in their religion courses at BYU? I mean, how could they do that and not have it completely implode?

Yes Nephi is writing before the coming of Christ. it is supposed to be a prophecy, but it seems a bit to specific if you ask me. Yes they check their sense of reality at the door, and opt instead for liver shivers.
Mormon's don't have a need for theologians, they have a prophet. But they do have men that teach this stuff at BYU. I haven't seen commentary sets, or anything. At one time Spencer Kimbal put out something close to a Mormon Systematic, but then he wasn't the prophet at the time, so it holds not so much weight for them.
Theologians are needed to read God's word, and apply it to the situation one finds himself in today. Mormon's don't need that, they can just have a revelation.
