Today in my morning devotions I was reading the last couple chapters of “Lutero y la Misíon” by Syndey Rooy, and was alerted to this passage on Prayer in “Luther: Letters of Spiritual Counsel” edited by Tappert, and published by Regent College Publishing, pg 207:
“That the word of God has not yet spread as it ought and as we desire (though our adversaries think it has spread too far) can be blamed only on the fact that we are too lazy to pray for sharp arrows and hot coals. Our Lord has commands us to pray that his Kingdom come and his name be hallowed– that is, that his word be extended and Christians increase. But because we all things to go their own way and do not pray earnestly, progress is slow, our arrows are dull and flabby, our coals are cold and unrefined, and the devil is no longer afraid of us. So let us be up and about. The time is here. The devil is playing evil tricks on us everywhere. Let us for once do something to vex him and revenge ourselves on him. In other words, let us pray God Without ceasing until he sends us enough instruments, marksmen, sharp arrows and coals.”
Prayer may not be “the third sacrament”, but Christians live a deprived life without it, and the kingdom suffers for lack of it. Do you have neighbors, family, coworkers and friends that you care about? The best thing you can do for them is pray for them, and you don’t have to let them know either. The visitors that showed up at church last Sunday, pray for them! It is good to set time aside for prayer, and it is important also, God hears, and he will answer.

Great reminder, Bror!
I think most of my prayers are for those (visitors in church, regulars in church, co-workers, anyone in the path), that they would hear (really hear it), and that God would grab a hold of them in their hearing.
