A Place for You

14 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God;[a] believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?[b] 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. 4 And you know the way to where I am going. (John 14: 1-4)
“Believe in God, believe also in me.” Jesus is preparing the disciples for his crucifixion and his death. It will be traumatic, the kind of trauma that often drives people from faith, the kind of trauma that makes one feel betrayed by God. “Believe in God, believe also in me.” Jesus instructs them to trust God this is what it means to believe in God, not merely to know that he exists but to trust that he is in control, that he is going to make it work. Believe also in me. He asks them to have the same trust in him that they have in God. He is going .There is no reason to be troubled. His Father’s house has many rooms, he is going to prepare a place for them. He will come again and will take them himself. Peter will follow, so will the rest of the disciples, in good time. They will go when he comes for them, when he comes for you.
