Born of the Will of God

“The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. 11 He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. 12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.” (John 1:9-13)
The true light comes into the world to reveal himself to the world that did not know its source, its creator. This is why the light has come into the world, and this light enlightens everyone. It is for everyone, so that everyone may know from whom they came, who they are, and be restored to what they are, children of God.
Everyone, this is essential to the gospel. Everyone means everyone. The neighbors you don’t like, the neighbors you do. The gospel is for Muslims, for Hindus, for Buddhists and atheists. It is even for Christians. Jesus came to save everyone, to enlighten us all with his truth, the only truth there is, the only truth that matters. It is truth that matters. He is truth. And he came to give us the right to be children of God, born of the will of God. It was the will of God to make us his, through the light of his son Jesus Christ. It was not our will that makes us children of God, not our choice, not our obedience, not anything we do, but the will of God who sent his son to die for our sins. We couldn’t do that ourselves.
