Passover

“Now the Feast of Unleavened Bread drew near, which is called the Passover. And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to put him to death, for they feared the people.” (Luke 22:1-2)
For they feared the people. Putting Jesus to death would not be an easy thing. They would try and cover their tails with a trial and so forth, but in reality everything needed to be done in secret before anyone knew so that when things finally happened, it would be to late for the people to do anything. But in the end they would have the people yelling crucify him! Perhaps it wouldn’t be the whole city doing it, but enough. But when he would die, he would die as the Passover lamb, who’s blood and flesh saved Israel from death. He would die on the Passover, the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
