It's about Jesus

Luke 4:20-22 (ESV)
And he rolled up the scroll and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him. [21] And he began to say to them, "Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing." [22] And all spoke well of him and marveled at the gracious words that were coming from his mouth. And they said, "Is not this Joseph's son?"

Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing. That is quite an incredible saying. Jesus says he is what this scripture is about. It was blasphemous if it wasn’t true. But the people respond just as you would expect them to respond. They blow him off with niceties as if they don’t even comprehend what he is saying. They speak well of him, and marvel at his words, without ever letting them get home to their hearts. This ought not be the way we take the words of Jesus. He is serious. The Bible is about him. The Old Testament it is about him. Until one realizes that he was the burning bush, he was the pillar of fire, the pillar of cloud, well then you don’t get the Old Testament. It is all about him.
