Jesus is the Law, and other blasphemies in the Book of Mormon

3 Nephi 15:9 [Book of Mormon]
“Behold I am the law and the light. Look unto me and endure to the end, and ye shall live; for unto him that endureth to the end will I give eternal life.”
Jesus speaking here. He is the law in this book. This is just sad.
The Jesus of the New Testament says that He is the way, the truth and the life. He says that his yoke is easy, his burden light. He forgives sins. He lays on no one any new law. He gives eternal life. He does not say he is the law, or tell people to earn their own salvation.

This is out of context. Your interpretation of this passage does not match the Book of Mormon's position on the question you are referring to. Jesus saying, "I am the law" here is the same statement as "I am the Way" in the gospels.

Parallel passage: Paul writes to the Galatians, "Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil THE LAW OF CHRIST." http://bible.cc/galatians/6-2.htm

Paul also writes, "Christ is the end of the law, for all those with faith."

Benjamin,
I would commend to you then, Luther's commentary on Galatians, Because the interpretation and hermeneutic of the passage you cite is of the utmost importance, because Galatians is actually scripture, and is true, because Paul, commissioned by Jesus Christ, wrote it.
But in the context there, bearing each others burdens is to live by and in the forgiveness of sins. It is to forgive, as you have been forgiven. Paul uses the word "Law" there almost in tongue in cheek. Check out what he says about law throughout the rest of that book.

Benjamin,
As to your first statement. Jesus saying he is the way, and Jesus saying he is the law are two very different statements, and don't at all mean the same thing.

Wait a minute! "I am the Law!"? Really? Now I know this is a rip-off.

They just copied that line from Stallone in 'Judge Dredd."
