Boats the Length of a Tree

Ether 2:17 [BOM]
“And they (barges for traveling to the new world) were built after a manner that they were exceedingly tight, even that they would hold water like unto a dish; and the bottom thereof was tight like unto a dish; and the ends thereof were peaked; and the top thereof was tight like unto a dish and the length thereof was the length of a tree; and the door thereof when it was shut, was tight like unto a dish, “
Very helpful that description, the length of a tree. It is hard to believe a person with the intelligence of a five year old would have written this. The length of a tree? Everyone knows that trees vary greatly as to length, both on account of species and age. At least with the measurement of a cubit you have a general idea give or take an inch or two, and Noah would at least be able to go by the measurement of his own cubit. But to give instructions to build something the length of a tree is ridiculous gibberish. He doesn’t even name a species!
