The Will of the Father

Matthew 7:21-23 (ESV)
"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. [22] On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?' [23] And then will I declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.'
So many claim to speak in the name of Christ. To some it is regarded like a magic incantation. I once had a man curse me in Christ’s name. People think that somehow this name makes any number of false teachings contradictory to the bible ok. Somehow people think that if an organization employs his name in their name it makes them Christian despite all that said organization teaches.
This is a solemn warning to those who think thus. “But only the one who does the will of My Father in who is in heaven” will enter the kingdom of heaven. Of course then the question is, what is the will of our Father in Heaven?” How is his will done? This of course is why Christ teaches us to pray “thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” The Father’s will is done when by the grace of God we believe in Jesus Christ who died for the sins of the world, including ours, and are led by the Holy Spirit to live by these words foiling every opportunity of the Devil, our sinful nature, and the world.
