Rev. 8:12-13 (ESV)
The fourth angel blew his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, and a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of their light might be darkened, and a third of the day might be kept from shining, and likewise a third of the night.
[13] Then I looked, and I heard an eagle crying with a loud voice as it flew directly overhead, "Woe, woe, woe to those who dwell on the earth, at the blasts of the other trumpets that the three angels are about to blow!"
As the storm clouds gather Sun, Moon, and stars are dimmed, what is to come after can be a horrifying experience. So horrifying that a man like Luther can be so frightened as to join a monastery and swear off study of the law. So terrifying that an entire city will leave house and home to avoid the oncoming hurricane, A town on the plains will come out of subterranean shelter to find itself flattened. The birds of war gather to pick the carrion clean. Dark times are to come.
