Rev. 8:6-7 (ESV)
Now the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared to blow them.
[7] The first angel blew his trumpet, and there followed hail and fire, mixed with blood, and these were thrown upon the earth. And a third of the earth was burned up, and a third of the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up.
The seven angels begin to blow and with each trumpet blast a portion of god’s judgment on the earth is meted out until the seventh trumpet brings the judgment to completion.
The fall of man has had consequences not just for man but for the rest of God’s creation also. God’s judgment falls not only on man, but the rest of his creation for which man is responsible and somewhat dependent. That is God has so orchestrated this world that thought ultimately all is dependent upon him, we receive sustenance from the earth.

I'm currently reading Luther's Works Vol. 1 (Commentary on Genesis Chapters 1-5) and he says the same thing about consequences to Adam's fall on all of creation and that His judgment is not just on us fallen creatures, but all of creation.
It can only be, when the king falls the country suffers. He gave us dominion over his creation, we could not fall without creation falling with us.
