For they Understood Not.

[Book of Mormon] Mosiah 13:32
“And now, did they understand the law? I say unto you, Nay, they did not all understand the law; and this because of the hardness of their hearts; for they understood not that there could not any man be saved except it were through the redemption of God. “
Does anyone else here think Abanadi is going round and round. It is as if he thinks he can have his cake and eat it to. That he can gain salvation by works of the law, and what he fails to earn is made up with the atonement, or redemption of God?
Either/or. It is either by the law, in which case we can all say good bye. Or it is by the work of Christ, his death and resurrection. It can’t be both. If you are guilty of breaking one commandment you are guilty of them all. Our hope is in Christ alone.

The mormon "jesus" isn't the Bible Jesus.

This passage depicts the momo's messed-up version of "grace" in which they say that we are saved by God *after* doing *all we can do.*

Come to think of it, though, that's not much different thought process than all other law-based religions, from Roman Catholicism to Islam--where God fills in the gaps where you can't do it yourself...maybe.

Problem with this in any version it comes in is the uncertainty it brings. That is, how can you know if you've done enough, and how can you know for sure if the *grace* to fill in the gaps is really *sufficient* for you? That's why they always have to look internally for some sort of subjective confirmation.

For the momo, that's the *burning bosom.* For the Islamist, it's the zeal through *jihad* (whatever that means to them.) It's like saying, God, I've done my part, now you have to do yours.

They don't have the real, objective Gospel that only exists totally outside us.
