He Remains Faithful

2 Tim. 2:11-13 (ESV)
The saying is trustworthy, for:

If we have died with him, we will also live with him;
[12] if we endure, we will also reign with him;
if we deny him, he also will deny us;
[13] if we are faithless, he remains faithful—

for he cannot deny himself.

If we are faithless, he remains faithful-for he cannot deny himself. What encouragement is found in these words. Too often we put too much on ourselves, trying to endure, to confess and not deny. But we do deny, we do not endure in and of ourselves. With every sin we commit we deny that Christ is Lord. And sin we do. Yet we have died with him, and we will also live with him. We were buried into his death, we also live with him in the resurrection of his body. He is our head, we are his body, He cannot deny himself. He remains faithful to us, when we are not faithful to him. We see it with Peter, who denied Christ 3 times before the Cock crowed. Jesus remained faithful to him. He is faithful to forgive, we have no reason to doubt. For this saying is trustworthy. He remains faithful.
