Don't be a Dog

Philip. 3:17-21 (ESV)
Brothers, join in imitating me, and keep your eyes on those who walk according to the example you have in us. [18] For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ. [19] Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things. [20] But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, [21] who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.
But out citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Our God is not of this world. He is of heaven, where our citizenship is. Therefore we do not need to be ruled by the sinful passions of this world. We can discipline ourselves. Dogs are of this world, not men. Dogs are ruled by the passions of this world.
I find it about as demeaning to be called a dog, as a woman does being called for its female counterpart. When I think of a dog, I think of an animal that will do just about anything for a scrap of food, and choke itself going after a bitch in heat. No control. No self discipline. No self respect. This is why those who practiced sodomy were called dogs in the Bible. They were regarded as men so debased they had no self control, discipline, or self respect and would do anything for a scrap of food, (The term was more properly applied to male whores.) A dog has one thought and that is the present. I love dogs but I don’t want to be one. I’m a man. Christian men need to man up. Get a little self control, a little self respect. There is more to life than this world. Man up, just because the milk is free doesn’t mean you need to drink it. Have some respect, if not for her for yourself. Don’t let sinful passions rule you, don’t return to the vomit of your past life. Look forward see the cross, be forgiven even

Using "bitch" on a pastor's blog? I'm not amused or impressed. Shame on you.

Okay, now I feel guilty.

When my son is messy and doesn't use scissors to open packages but rather rips them open, I tell him people use scissors to open stuff and dogs just rip it open because they can't use the scissors.

Parent guilt.

Been a while since this one has fallen off the radar on my blog, but some recent comments have been made, which it seems I did not see to comment on.
What would be wrong with using the word "bitch" in this context? To call a woman a bitch, even in a friendly way, would be uncouth. But there is a reason it is considered demeaning to call a woman a bitch, and that is it equates her to a female canine, typically called a bitch. And that is the language being used here. To call a man, or anyone a dog, at the time the New Testament was used was to use some quite derogatory language concerning them, "being a dog, or a dawg" was not something people respected.
