Delivered from the Present Evil Age

Galatians 1:3-5 (ESV)
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, [4] who gave himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, [5] to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Paul finishes his greeting with a strong assertion of the Gospel. Christ gave himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age. He wrote that 2,000 years ago. Well maybe not exactly but you get the point. So much for the good old days. The present evil age. The present evil age has been around for a while. It began with the fall, when Eve ate the forbidden fruit, and nom that was not a euphemism for sex. Eve was perfectly capable of having children without having sinned first. God had commanded them to be fruitful and multiply, God does not command people to do things they cannot do. Furthermore he says that pain in child birth would be increased. This implies that there was some pain involved in childbirth to begin with. The result of the fall was not the ability to conceive and have children, but increased pain in childbirth. That and the triad of evil came to roost, sin, death, and the Devil. These three plague this age. They plague us. Yet Christ having forgiven us our sins, has also delivered us from death and the devil. Now we have life, and life abundantly.

Amen!

I can't wait until he ends this evil age and ushers in His New Kingdom.

Actually, I guess I can wait, knowing that since He has done it already (delivered us, redeemed us)...it will happen!

Nonetheless..."Come Lord Jesus...come!"
